It’s Wednesday and You Know What That Means!!!!

The new “3 Minutes with Curtis & Dean” is up!

We are shooting more episodes soon and want to know what YOU want discussed!  Hit us at the Wiggy Twitter, Curtis’s Twitter, The Wiggy Webs Channel, The Facebook Fan pages for Curtis or Wiggy or right here in the comments of this blog!  We’ve already received some great ideas, but the more we have the more we can shoot.

That’s all the shameless self-promotion that we’re going to do today, but I hope you enjoy the video.  We are down to the last episode before we shoot new ones and Dean and I have some new ideas to implement that we’re pretty excited about.  New intro!  New opening and closing music!  All new, all different editing techniques that will probably be unnoticeable to the casual viewer!  Good stuff.

I recorded a new episode of The Shmimcast last weekend, I mentioned it on Twitter, and when it is released I will post a link here to it.  Also, I’m going to be playing with the look of the blog this week as we play with the new web stuff – so don’t be surprised.

There’s so much stuff I want to tell you about – but it isn’t time.  I’ll just have to wait.

See you tomorrow!

I’m Featured on The Shmimcast!

Quick post to point you to episode #5 of Shmimcast, the podcast all about Improv Shmimprov!  You can get it in iTunes and here: www.ShmimCast.com

If you’re a fan of Improv Shmimprov then these are great podcasts about how the show got started and insights into the players.  For people new to Shmimprov it might be a little too inside baseball, but I think it’s still worth a listen.

Oh, and the whole reason why I’m plugging this is because I’m featured on episode 5!  At least check out that one.

And come to a live Shmimprov show: www.improvshmimprov.com.

See you tomorrow!

Project 365 10-1-2010 Dave’s Roast

When you are a member of Improv Shmimprov you get a roast after 100 shows.  Tonight was Dave Chorley’s Roast.

These are always fun for us, maybe not for the audience – although I don’t know since I’ve never seen one from the audience perspective – but I realized when I was writing the roast for Dave that I really didn’t know much about him!  I was shocked since I’ve known him for over two years now and it made me realize that even though I’m up to a lot, I don’t know that I’m really present for all of it.

I think I need to work on changing that.

Here’s Dave as he roasted us back:

Project 365 7-10-2010 Shmimprov, Karaoke & Surprise Nene!

Today was not so much a day as it was a night.

The day was a typical wake-up-teach-go-home day.  After class I ran up to L.A. to celebrate my friend Zeke’s birthday!  I thought I was going to use a picture from that as today’s picture, but I forgot my camera.  We had a lot of fun, but I had to beat feet at 8:30 to get back in time for the Shmimprov show that night.

It was a pretty funny show, even though I went off on an audience hating diatribe during Oscar Winning Moment.  We had recurring characters over a couple games, including me as a kangaroo.  Kinda’ had to be there.  I thought I would use a picture from that performance as today’s picture, but I forgot my camera.

After the show a pair of arms wrapped around me and scared the hell out of me!  Fortunately I noticed that the left hand was wearing a very familiar engagement ring.  Rene had surprised me by showing up during the show!  She herself had been in B.F.E. doing a show of her own and I didn’t expect to see her.  It was a very nice surprise.  I thought it would be nice to use a picture of Rene or Rene and I for today’s picture, but I didn’t have my camera.

Fortunately Rene had her camera and we stuck around for some karaoke after the show!  So today’s picture is of me signing a song:

I have no idea what song it was.

Project 365 7-2-2010 Sweat

I was a sweating machine today!  Not all day, but most of the day.  It was a hot day in general, but that wasn’t the proactive sweating – the proactive sweating began when I met Rene at the gym.  The cardio really got me going, but then, surprisingly, even my weight work kept up the sweat.

Then at night I did Shmimprov and it was a pretty physical show and I was definitely “glistening” after that performance as well.

If I were in Japan I would have just finished off the day with a refreshing Pokari Sweat!

Today’s picture is of me right before bed – I don’t know how visible the sheen of sweat is:

As I get older I just get more disgusting.

See you tomorrow!

Project 365 6-26-2010 Amber’s Batchelorette Party

My friend Amber is getting married and she’s a member Improv Shmimprov so a bunch of us boys came together for her batchlorette party and did our best to give her a great last night as a single woman!

We played marriage-centric improv games and she wore a tutu.

Nate did a strip tease…

…with fishnets and a corset.

He also smuggled a sausage in his pants.

It was very funny.

Ryan Clark and I had to mime Olympic luge and it looked like this:

The last one is, technically, the pic for today.

Project 365 6-12-2010 Impromptu Date-Night

Rene and I were hungry, but we didn’t know what to eat.  We ran errands until we could think of something.  We stopped by my parent’s house, no idea what to get.  We got back in the car, no idea what to get.  Eventually, because we were by Fullerton, I suggested the Old Spaghetti Factory.  Rene countered with Rutabagorz…

…thus began our impromptu date night!

After Rutas we headed over to The Olde Ship for sticky toffee pudding and a beer.  Since this was also the same night as the US vs. England World Cup game the whole pub was deco’d in Union Jacks but we heard nothing about the game.

After that we made the spontaneous decision to see Shmimprov.

Today’s picture is of the clock when we rolled in and were about to sleep:

Of all the fun stuff we did tonight this is when I remembered to take a picture.

I was so disappointed.

See you tomorrow!

Project 365 5-22-2010

As you’ve probably noticed these blogs are REALLY late.  I’m going to pretend that I’m writing on Saturday.

Woke up.

Taught.

Came home.

It was a happily mellow kind of day… until the evening.

Let me start with what was easy about it – the morning and afternoon went exactly as planned, and when I got home Frankie and I played with his stretchy hippopotamus – a recent favorite toy.  We tugged and chased and whipped it around.  Unfortunately we were a little too much for the hippo ‘cuz he ended up like this:

It’s OK, though, the stretchy part is still in one piece and Frankie is still a really big fan of it.

Now to the evening…

…I have a habit of over booking.  I don’t ever intend to do it but I do, and really it wouldn’t be such a big problem if there weren’t so much time required to travel places, but it’s something I’m still working on.  My best friend Jeff had his birthday party tonight and I also needed to be at an Improv Shmimprov show at 11pm.

We managed to make both events, but there was more than a little stress making it happen.  It’s nights like this that remind me that I REALLY need to focus on my time management, especially as life gets busier.

See you tomorrow!

Project 365 5-8-2010 Mother’s Day!

Today we celebrated Mother’s Day a day early so that we could celebrate with my mom, my sister and my brother-in-law’s birthday.  We had dinner at Wood Ranch Restaurant where they make wonderful tri-tip and garlic mashed potatoes.  It was delightful and Rene and I both forgot to take a picture of it because we were having such a good time.

Then I played in Improv Shmimprov and had a great show with some great people… and Rene and I forgot to take pictures.

So my picture today?  It’s of my hand.  I’m making metal horns.  Because I rock.  That statement was intended to be sarcastic.

See you tomorrow.

Project 365 3-12-2010 The Proposal

Tonight I proposed to my girlfriend Rene Bordelon and she said yes.

Here is the story leading up to the moment:

Got the ring by chance.  I was with a friend after a contract meeting and he needed to go do some business for jewelry he was picking up.  While I was there with him my eye caught a glimpse of the estate jewelry.  I was looking at another ring when they pulled out a wedding set that had just come in the day before – it was perfect!  By a fortuitous happenstance I was able to acquire the wedding set much sooner than I thought and suddenly the clock was running to propose!

In order to make sure that I proposed in the best way possible I went to Rene’s best friend, Karen, and we had the “How to Propose to Rene Summit.”  After a good 45 minutes discussion and at least a dozen ideas tossed around we returned to her original suggestion: propose to Rene on stage at the Maverick Theater during an Improv Shmimprov show.  After the decision was made I got on the horn and called Nate, one of the men behind Shmimprov, to ask if it were possible.  He said yes, so long as I did the show that night as well since they were down a team.  It was an easy bargain to strike and by the end of the afternoon Amber and I were a team and Karen had convinced Rene to go out for her “birthday” – a subtle trick to get her out of the house and in Fullerton on the night of the event.

The plan was set, Rene had no idea what was going on, Amber and I had created some deceptively subtle references in out act that would involve marriage, Nate and Jamie helped craft the order of the show so that it made sense and wouldn’t interfere with the March Madness shows going on, Jeff Garvin of 7k was going to be providing music at the show – all was going according to plan…

…and then Rene got sick.  Really sick!  She’s still sick!  She got that really gnarly cold virus that has been going around and suddenly we, Karen, Rene’s mom, my mom and myself, were terrified that she might not want to go out ona night when she was still sick.  So we did our best to make sure she was better!  Meds, Jamba Juice Cold Busters, wheat grass shots, more smoothies – anything that suggested it might make someone healthy.  Rene mentioned that she thought it was weird that we were all trying to make her get better, to the point where she started getting a complex thinking that we found her annoying when she was sick.  We didn’t.

After all was said and done she made it out to dinner and then to the show.  I promised Rene that she could tell the story of the actual proposal and her reactions to it in her blog, but I can tell you that, even though I was pretty sure she’d say yes, I was REALLY nervous!

Today’s picture is of the moment:

See you tomorrow!
