Frankie the Wonder Dog’s Declining Health

Our little man isn’t doing too well. All of his health issues are starting to catch up to him and are really taking a toll on his little body. Rene and I have been doing all we can to make sure that he is comfortable and happy, but as much as we try nature is starting to beat his medicines.

Last night Rene took Frankie to the vet and we got some distressing news – his body is holding fluid and there is a mass in his chest that right now cannot be identified through the fluid.

It was a devastating visit both emotionally and financially.

We have always half joked that as long as we have credit, Frankie will be cared for. Unfortunately we have now reached a point where Frankie’s medical bills have tapped us out.

Frankie is such a good boy. He’s a breed ambassador and makes friends everywhere he goes, not just for himself but us as well. Normally Rene and I like to only show images that show a happy and healthy Frankie, like these:

But lately he’s really looked more like this:

We have really great vets who are doing their best to care for him, but he has so many ailments that it’s tough nailing down what’s doing the most harm to him at any given time.

It’s really tough to be a Frankie dog right now.

We started a donations page for Frankie back in March when his first major cardiac event and that was a major help. He is alive today because of the kindness of those donors and we have had to reactivate it because of the extraordinary expenses related to his care over the last couple of weeks. Please visit his page at the link below. Any help you can provide goes directly to paying for Frankie’s medication and vet visits. We know after this last visit that there are more trips to the vet coming and likely more medications as well.

Frankie’s Fund

Rene and I do not like asking for help. We took on the responsibility of a dog knowing that it meant that we were supposed to care for him and we do our best to make sure that he is paid for, but there have just been too many bills coming too fast and we don’t want our dog to die of something preventable just because we couldn’t pay for it this week.

Thank you so much for checking it out and donating if you can. Words cannot express how much Rene, myself and especially Frankie appreciate it.

Random Pictures

I have these pictures floating around on my desktop. I keep intending to use them for something, but I forget that they’re there since the internet is always open. so I’m posting them here as a way to share them and as a way to remind myself that I have these things.

Courage Wolf – This is my favorite of the series. It’s like a personal motto.

I would really like to turn this into a meme called “Blurry Dog.” Anybody want to help me with that?

This is a picture by my friend and Shmimprov colleague Miles Taber. I’m hoping that he’ll soon produce t-shirts and prints of his artwork. It’s all awesome.

Happy Frankie was actually my cover photo on Facebook for a while. But I like his face here and maybe this gets meme’d out too?

This is just a cool bit of Iron Man art by Michael Cho. I know nothing about this artist, but HERE is what I found on Google.
See you next time!

Rene Nosferatu

We were shooting new episodes of “Make-Up with The Wolf” yesterday that will play later this month. One of those episodes saw Rene turned into a horrible, terrible Buffy/Lost Boys style vampire!

This was her first experience with a full facial prosthetic and it turned out really cool!

I’ll let you know when the video is up, but for now check out some pictures of Rene as a blood sucker!

This was prep – get the hair out of the way, prep the skin, etc.

 Final!

Even trying to look friendly, she still looked menacing.

 With Director Zeke.

 With Make-Up Artist Myke.

Rene got in her wedding dress to do a series of Vampire Bride.

 Eating the cat!

Snaggle tooth (one of the teeth fell out).

See you tomorrow!

I Missed a Day, But We Went To The Fair So It’s Cool.

Blogger didn’t post my Friday blog when it was supposed to!  That sucks!

Also, I missed yesterday.  Sorry.

I’m still struggling with the whole one space after a period/two spaces after a period thing. Gah!

That’s neither here nor there, let’ talk about the fair!

It has become a tradition  for Rene and I to go to the Orange County Fair every year. In all the years I have lived in O.C., and I’ve been here over 25 of them, I never really got into the fair. I was taken once or twice over the years but never really got into it until Rene shared her joy of the fair with me.

Now we’re Super Pass holders.

We got Really lucky this year and got ours through Groupon so our were half price! Seriously, Groupon doesn’t sponsor me or anything, but Rene and I really enjoy a lot of the deals that they offer. If you enjoy trying new things Groupon is an inexpensive way to do it.

Our trips to the fair are a celebration of fried food, terrorizing carnival rides and sushi – but I think pictures speak louder than words:

And every year we take photo booth photos, are are the ones for 2011:

See you tomorrow!

Rene Bodelon: Pin-Up

As some of you may know my girlfriend Rene and our dog Frankie posed for the Pin-Ups for Pit Bulls calendar this year! Rene’s photo made the finals and, although she doesn’t have her own month, she is featured with the other finalists on the collage page!

You can buy the calendar at PinUpsforPitbulls.com!

The funds go to helping to rescue pit bulls and helping to rehabilitate the image of these misunderstood dogs. Check out this past blog and this for more details.

Support a good cause and see my lady in lingerie. Everybody wins!

See you tomorrow!

New Project

I’m considering a new project. For those of you who may remember Dean, Rene and I did a project in 2008 call Project 366 where we took pictures of ourselves everyday and posted them to our MySpace pages. It was a fun project that I was happy to be finished with because the pressure to get a “good” picture everyday starts to weigh on ya’.

But then I woke up today.

Part of my morning is to read the blogs I subscribe to. Some are film blogs, some are pure geek, but one of my favorites is Sebastian Clark’s Tuesday Tunes. Seb is a musician and fellow Shmimprover (we got cast at the same Shmimprov Idol show!) and every Tuesday he posts a new song that he had a hand in creating. I look forward to Tuesdays for this very reason. The commitment to creation on a regular basis is a REALLY strong commitment to make and I really admire his dedication to it even though he has certainly faced obstacles trying to do it (including, but not limited to, recording in France, almost getting killed, lack of internet connection while traveling and deciding to go on a European tour a third of the way through.).

So I got to thinking – I kinda’ miss project 366. I want to start a new project. I just watched a show on the History Channel about the end of the world in 2012.

All these things mixed together and fell out of my head like this: Countdown to 2012!

So I think I’m going to take a picture of my self everyday and post it to show a glimpse into a life that may or may not end on December 21, 2012.

So we’re clear – I’m not a doomsday cultist. I don’t think that the world is, in fact, going to end on December 21, 2012. I am fascinated by the whole mystique of it. The ancient connections, the math. I just learned about Time Wave theory yesterday – a wild concept that also shows an end to “time?” in December 2012. Even though I don’t really think the world will end that day it is remarkable to me that this date is so present through out time and cultures. Check it out here. Also, I’m pretty amazed that the History Channel, who used to show programs about how 2012 was bunk is now showing nothing but “End of the World” programming with the new movie coming out. Corporate synergy much?

Anyway, I have not taken this project on just yet. I need to meet with my advisers: Rene, Frankie the Wonderdog, Dean, etc. and see if this might be a bigger project than I can commit to.

I’d also like to hear YOUR thoughts on the matter – so pop a comment out and help a brutha’ out.

See you tomorrow!
