Project 365 5-26-2010 Still Sick

As you’ve probably noticed these blogs are REALLY late.  I’m going to pretend that I’m writing on Wednesday.

Today is the big sick day.  I just feel gross and gross.

I think I’ve oozed a gallon of snot.

Since I don’t want to leave my room or desk I helped my buddy Ryan review contracts.

Today’s picture is me printing them out:

See you tomorrow!

Project 365 1-1-2010

Today is the first day of Rene, Dean and my new Project 365 – 2010!  As you saw in the introduction post we are doing things a bit differently.  Rene has added a theme element to her project and since Rene and I spend so much time together I will be doing my best to stick to these themes.

The theme for January is: Doing New Things!

Everyday we are going to try and do new things.  Technically the first new thing I did this year was make a drink based on a Kahlua mud slide with Buttershots and more Kahlua – but that’s not what’s getting credit for today(although it is REALLY good!).  Instead we will talk about the new route we took Frankie on for his walk!

Frankie is a pitbull and needs a lot of exercise to keep him a happy little man.  Rene takes him on regular walks and I try to join them as often as I can.  Today was one of those days.  There are lots of little routes that are available to the dog walker in the neighborhood, and I thought Rene had tried them all, but I was wrong.  Train tracks run near her house and while we have traveled down one direction before she’d never gone the other way.  It was like a scene out of “Stand By Me” with Frankie in the lead and Rene and I catching up from behind.  I thought all the rocks that line the tracks, with their sharp edges and hidden glass, would keep Frankie from wanting to go down the path but he’s a clever little dog and he found a stretch of soft sand that runs along the whole track.  The only real bump in the road was the carcass of a dead bird that Frankie found.  This wouldn’t be so bad except that he decided that he should roll around in the dirt near the carcass.  Gross.  He was promptly bathed when we got home and now smells of happiness and light and all of his white fur glows with what seems like an inner light.

So that was our first “new thing”.  We also discussed going into Fuzzy Bears, a dive bar featuring “exotic girls” and pool, as a “new thing” to do since neither of us has ever seen exotic girls juxtaposed with pool tables… maybe another time.

See you tomorrow!

The New Project 365 – 2010

Some of you who still use MySpace may remember a photo project that Rene, Dean and I did back in 2008 called Project 366 where we took a picture of ourselves once a day for every day in 2008.  At the best of times the picture represented what we were doing that day or a general mood of the day but sometimes, especially near the end of the project, it was just a last minute picture of whatever.  2009 had no project attached to it and, while the first couple months it was a relief, we started to miss having a project to do.  After a few failed attempts to launch new projects the three of us have come to a bit of a decision on a new plan, so here comes Project 365 – 2010!

The rules for this year’s project are a bit looser than the rules in 2008.  For example Dean will be taking a picture of whatever he finds interesting that day and posting it.  Rene has decided on themes for each month of the year and will be blogging about them as she goes.  I will be doing a hybrid of the two.  I will be taking pictures of what I find interesting, trying to keep to the themes Rene sets, and will be blogging about the pictures which will be posted here.

This project started on January 1st 2010 and will be complete on December 31st 2010.  Yes, I know today is the 4th so I’ll be posting catch-up blogs until we get up to date, in fact there will be one up right after this blog!  Let me know what you think and follow Rene through her project here and you can follow Dean on his Facebook page, when I get a URL I’ll post it.

See you tomorrow!

New Project

I’m considering a new project. For those of you who may remember Dean, Rene and I did a project in 2008 call Project 366 where we took pictures of ourselves everyday and posted them to our MySpace pages. It was a fun project that I was happy to be finished with because the pressure to get a “good” picture everyday starts to weigh on ya’.

But then I woke up today.

Part of my morning is to read the blogs I subscribe to. Some are film blogs, some are pure geek, but one of my favorites is Sebastian Clark’s Tuesday Tunes. Seb is a musician and fellow Shmimprover (we got cast at the same Shmimprov Idol show!) and every Tuesday he posts a new song that he had a hand in creating. I look forward to Tuesdays for this very reason. The commitment to creation on a regular basis is a REALLY strong commitment to make and I really admire his dedication to it even though he has certainly faced obstacles trying to do it (including, but not limited to, recording in France, almost getting killed, lack of internet connection while traveling and deciding to go on a European tour a third of the way through.).

So I got to thinking – I kinda’ miss project 366. I want to start a new project. I just watched a show on the History Channel about the end of the world in 2012.

All these things mixed together and fell out of my head like this: Countdown to 2012!

So I think I’m going to take a picture of my self everyday and post it to show a glimpse into a life that may or may not end on December 21, 2012.

So we’re clear – I’m not a doomsday cultist. I don’t think that the world is, in fact, going to end on December 21, 2012. I am fascinated by the whole mystique of it. The ancient connections, the math. I just learned about Time Wave theory yesterday – a wild concept that also shows an end to “time?” in December 2012. Even though I don’t really think the world will end that day it is remarkable to me that this date is so present through out time and cultures. Check it out here. Also, I’m pretty amazed that the History Channel, who used to show programs about how 2012 was bunk is now showing nothing but “End of the World” programming with the new movie coming out. Corporate synergy much?

Anyway, I have not taken this project on just yet. I need to meet with my advisers: Rene, Frankie the Wonderdog, Dean, etc. and see if this might be a bigger project than I can commit to.

I’d also like to hear YOUR thoughts on the matter – so pop a comment out and help a brutha’ out.

See you tomorrow!
