Monday Pluggin’ and A Hint of Things to Come…

Getting the plug out of the way first: NEW STORY TIME WITH RAY!!!!!!!

OK, so other things that get repeated in here too often: very busy, shooting stuff, working on papers for new projects, blah, blah, blah – all of this is still true, but for those of you who remember that I have a geeky side – and I know you’re out there – the geekness is back – and I’m taking pictures!

I’m not going to put it in this blog, today is about Ray, but soon (maybe tomorrow?) you’ll see the geeky underbelly and what I’ve had time to do since Rene has been doing her professional intensive at SCR. Might have to go into that in more detail as well.

Anyway, enjoy Ray, subscribe, etc. I’ve got to get back to work!

Doctor Who Anime

From OtaKing77077, who also goes by Mightyotaking on Deviantart, comes a fan project Doctor Who anime!! It’s really neat and uses audio clips from shows featuring the 3rd Doctor, Jon Pertwee. Here are the three vids that currently exist, enjoy!

It’s Cheese!

I enjoy pop culture. I memorize song lyrics, tag lines and slogans. I also use them in “inside jokes” all the time. Tonight I wanted to let Rene inside a joke I’ve had since Junior High, but not really used in a while, “It’s cheese!”

I think it’s hysterical.

To let her in I found the commercial it was stolen from on YouTube. Here it is:

When I was a pre-teen/teen I found this HYSTERICAL! Now, whenever I can, I describe cheese this way, but I remember the “it’s cheese!” line bigger, more scared and, therefore, funnier. This next commercial, however, is exactly as I remember it, and is still one of my featured “go to” jokes when I improv:

These Little Ceasar’s commercials were some of the greatest of my childhood/adolescence. To this day they still work in getting me to crave Crazy Bread. They helped to groom my love of the ridiculous. We don’t get a lot of commercials like this anymore. Now we have “high concepts” and dramatic commercials, but sometimes I really miss the days of camp and “set-up/punchline” gags.

T-Pain, I apologize for all the bad things I said.

I was once a T-Pain hater. I felt that his extreme use of auto-tune in every song that he did was just a lazy gimmick to sell records and hide the fact that he can’t sing.

Actually, that is still probably true, but his embrace of auto-tune has led to the internet sensation called “Auto-Tune the News.”

Now if you’re already web savvy you have probably heard of these guys and seen an episode or two, but I was looking at their page views and noticed that most of them are below 500k, which is really low for internet phenoms. Since I’ve always been a filmmaking DIY’er I wanted to help promote what these guys are doing because I think it’s cool and if they are able to crank a buck or two out of this then I’m happy to help. So below are my two favorite episodes. Let me know what you think or if you have a favorite web show/video!
